Homeschool Program 2019-2020 School Year
The Pickled Paintbrush and ROC & Soul - Homeschool Program 2019-2020 Year
Our drop-off Homeschool Program meets Wednesdays from 1:00-4:00.
Students entering K-8th grade are invited to join us for our drop-off homeschool program! Current homeschooling mama, former teacher, and owner, Marissa will be designing and instructing the art classes. The Pickled Paintbrush will provide art classes that focus on art techniques, combined with art history, and various STEAM elements. These art lessons will teach fine art techniques, including the use of multiple mediums such as paints (all types), charcoal, oil pastels, inks, and more. We’ll apply some of our creative methods to real world scenarios. We welcome students of all artistic abilities!
Example Art Class Topics (taught throughout the year):
Figure & Portrait Drawing
We’re pairing up with ROC & Soul Fitness to provide a Creative Movement class in their studio, located just behind The Pickled Paintbrush. The certified instructor, Meg, is amazing, and ties in our weekly themes to her classes. Creative Movement is a joyful way for children to explore movement through music, develop physical skills, channel energy, stimulate imagination and promote creativity!
The Creative Movement Class Focus:
Stretching & flexibility
Coordination skills & activities
Community/team building games & challenges
Sensory based learning activities
Fitness & dance based movements
Music & rhythm awareness through movement
Self-expression within our group participation activities
Awareness of self and others
Each weekly workshop will include an art class and a creative movement class infused with music elements. Parents will receive a summary of topics and themes. Our program aims to build self-confidence, foster artistic expression, and celebrate individuality in a positive and supporting environment! At the end of every session throughout the year, we will host an art show to display work and to take home. Art shows will be held on the last day of each session from 4:00-4:30. We will practice public speaking to introduce art pieces.
Please pack a peanut-free snack and water bottle. Please come prepared to get messy, and dress comfortably. Makeup dates are built into the schedule to account for inclement weather and teacher illness or emergency. Class cancellation notifications will be sent via email.
